The son of Snowflake, Wynter was hatched a year before Icicle, and was seen as mature after the same battle in which Icicle earned her respect. Joining in patrols after that at the young age of six, Wynter later was scarred after a lightning attack to his face, which he was able to avoid most of.

Some time later, Wynter's sister was chosen to raid Tempest himself in the charge on Magic's Touch, and Wynter was able to reassure her that she would be fine. After the news of her death reached him, almost two days later when he woke up from a sleeping spell that hit him during the fight, Wynter beat himself up, feeling it was his fault that his sister had died.

Finding himself the only living dragon in his family, Wynter was turned to for Ice Dragon leadership, despite the appointment of Drake as the first Dragon King. Organizing squadrons to fly back to the mainland to bring back the youngest dragons who had been left behind in case of total annihilation, Wynter worked with the oldest of the ice breathers to set up a space for them to live.

Claiming one of the two points of the island, Wynter married a vixen, and the two had several eggs together. Wynter was killed by Fire Dragons after he tried to keep his grandaughter from being chosen by Drake for servitude. His body was buried underneath a small tree that had been planted, brought over from the mainland, instead of being set to sea. Why the dragons of the time chose to break tradition is unknown, but since then it has become a new tradition that Selected would be buried underneath the Forevergreen with him, and all other bodies would be set to sea.

One of Wynter's descendants, a female Shimmer-Wing with bright green feathers named Berry, was one of the first dragonets to be Silenced, as it was Crescent, her brother from an older hatching that organized the attempted takeover of the castle.

In honor of Wynter, the town, which had been previously unnamed, was given the title 'Wynter's Grove'. Along with the story of Icicle, the tale of Wynter founding the grove, and the story of Crescent and Berry, is taught to young Ice Dragonets.
